Graphics Designer : Digital Artist : Photographer
As an artist, and a person, I've always needed answers. I've never been able to leave a question open ended. My work explains- a feeling, a mood, a tone, anything that can be experienced through senses rather than through words. Through my visual art, I evoke all of these experiences in one flat image. My pieces capture the eye through simplicity, and keep it there through the feeling it embodies.
Though I am a graphic designer, my favorite tool is my camera, because in the lens is where it all begins. My camera allows me to take a little piece of the world and bring it into my work. Because I work with nature photography so much, I love to incorporate earth tones as well as complimentary colors such as blue and orange. The earth tones in my work evoke feelings of serenity, and the simple magnificence of forces such as nature and music. The contrast of complimentary colors bring clarity, especially when paired with text involving difficult ideas. When my work is going well, I feel such peace and comfort because the pieces I create act as answers for my questions about why these quotes, or places make me feel the way I feel.
My favorite part of what i do is seeing the feeling I get when I listen to the song my piece is centered on visually represented. I know a piece is done when I can look at it and feel as though I'm listening to that song in that place for the first time all over again. When people see my work, I would like them to be transported to the same place I was, even if just for a moment.
